It’s undeniable that Norway’s landscapes are breathtaking, so when someone disrupts the land in some way, we often scowl. But what if that disruption barely scratches the surface of the landscape, blending into nature in a way that is unmatched?<br>

The Hunting Lodge by Snohetta is the perfect example of that. This lodge set deep in the western mountains of Norway along the Akrafjorden Fjord looks to be one with nature. It’s expertly crafted utilizing steel beam construction that’s covered with timber. Its top is covered in green moss that matches the landscape, hiding it from planes or helicopters that might pass above. The result is a beautiful, warm and cozy getaway that can only be reached by horseback or foot. It can house up to 21 people, and it has a central fireplace to mark the gathering point. </div><br>

Bus stops come in all shapes and sizes. In the small Japanese town of Konagai, in the outskirts of Isahaya, in Nagasaki Prefecture, they come in five different flavors — watermelon, strawberry, orange, muskmelon and tomato. These quirky bus stops were originally built for the 1990 Travel Expo in order to attract visitors arriving from various location.<br>

The actual Expo was hosted by the city of Osaka. It ran for a straight six months and attracted over 23 million visitors. The fair was such a success that a host of smaller fairs expressing related themes were held across Japan. <br>

Konagai too held an exhibition entitled “Nagasaki Journey”, and these sixteen fruit-shaped bus shelters were part of it. Since then, the stands have become a local tourist attraction in the region. <br>

Konagai’s fruity bus stops gained a wider audience after 2005 when the town, along with four others, were merged into the larger city of Isahaya, allowing them to be discovered by more travellers and tourists. The bus stops are still functional and have held remarkably well for a quarter of a century. They appear to be well maintained too.<br>

The town is located atop one of the flat-topped mountains called mesa, which are normal for this part of Crimea, and is famous for its more than 300 caves. The caves were built in the 6th century and was used for human habitation because of the safety they provided and the shelter that they offered from the elements. <br />

Over the centuries the dwellings grew and housed several hundreds of people at one time. Religious life was important to these people who had a few temples and churches built in the caves. One of the churches still has frescoes that depict Christ and Mary, although the frescoes are beginning to show the wear of the elements.<br />

The “cave city” was inhabited until the arrival of the Mongols in the 13th century. Due to the mountainous terrain, the town is difficult to reach and was therefore one of the last to succumb to the Mongol onslaught. <br />

The rules of the tournament are a bit more complicated than the childhood game we all used to play, but then again, this is a contest for grownups (18 and over). Participants may register to take part in teams of five, with a €125 fee per team. The teams are then divided into four groups and one person per group hides while a “neutral searching team” counts 60 seconds.<br>

The hidden player then has 10 minutes to come out of their hiding spot and reach a soft mattress (for diving purposes) placed in the middle of a field without being found or at least before a member of the searching team finds them. If they fail to reach their target within the time limit, players are not awarded any points. The game goes on for two days until the winner is declared.<br>

Andrzej Jarodzki, an artist from Wroclaw, came up with the idea a long time ago while playing with his son’s toy engine. At one point he set the toy upright and that’s where the idea came from. However, Jarodzki was unable to realize it until he was approached by Archicom. Only five years old, the Train to Heaven is already Wroclaw’s most famous attraction.   <br />

In addition to standard amusement park thrill rides, Dollywood features traditional crafts and music of the Smoky Mountains area.
